There has been some troubling information being published lately considering the current usage of fluoride in community water systems and how it affects the IQ of our children. This has troubled me as well, so I have personally done some investigating.
First, the studies being referenced recently have involved offering mice or rats more than two times, and up to ten times or more, of fluoride than what we would have in our community water systems. This is unfair and inflammatory. As we all know, too much Tylenol and many medications, and even too much alcohol or water, can lead to death. So, these studies are not intellectually relevant.
Second, in a recent review of past studies by the American Medical Association, when investigating fluoride levels recommended for city water systems, there is not enough data to conclude that recommended fluoride levels are detrimental to the IQ of children, as recently reported. . .
It seems more solid research is needed to investigate recommended fluoride levels. . . For now, I support the current fluoride levels within our community water systems, as is consistent with the American Dental Association, which has done so much to improve our personal dental health and experience when comparing to our grandparents. . .
