The Year’s End: Do You Have Unused Benefits for Dental Care?

As the year is about to end, we all have many chores and activities to plan for; one of these is obtaining recommended/needed dental care before unused benefits are lost. These benefits may include dental insurance proceeds, flexible spending account monies, or medical savings account benefits. In many cases, if these benefits are not used, they expire. So, if you have dental care that you want or need, now is the time to make those necessary appointments. Many dental offices can be very busy at this time of year. Cleaning and Screening: Preventative Care

Why Preventative Dental Care is So Important It’s estimated about 30 percent of dental patients nationwide have periodontal disease, also known as gum disease. However, among Dr. Venincasa’s patients, we find periodontal disease among only ten percent of patients. We work hard to help our patients keep current with their care. We take extra time to show our patients how to properly care for their teeth and gums. This personalized care enables us to individualize each patient’s preventive care, resulting in greater success preventing periodontal disease. Our Oral Cancer Screening Program More than 50,000 Americans are diagnosed with oral cancer

Veneers: Cosmetic Covers

What are Dental Veneers? A veneer is a permanent thin shell applied to the front, outward-facing side of a tooth. Dental veneers have many uses, such as correcting issues with tooth discoloration, cracks, chips, gaps, and other undesirable  cosmetic problems. Porcelain veneers can greatly enhance the appeal of a smile, boost confidence, and to open up personality! Veneers must be cared for very well to keep them looking nice. We strongly recommend night guard wear following the placement of veneers. Porcelain Veneers vs. Bonding There are some situations in which a patient can choose between porcelain veneers, which last longer,

Smile Makeovers: Cosmetic Dentistry

What is a Smile Makeover? Your smile is often the first impression you give to others. When there’s an issue with your teeth or gums that makes your smile less than perfect, it can have a big impact on your confidence and self-esteem. Fillings: Essential for Cavities

What are Tooth Fillings? White fillings have been around since the 1980s. They are now considered a very nice alternative to the classical silver fillings.  The advantage of white fillings is their ability to seal and bond to the tooth structure.  As a result of this seal or bond, these white fillings can be more resistant to recurrent decay. A second advantage of white fillings is that they are more insulative than silver fillings.  As a result of this property, white fillings can be less sensitive to cold air, fluids, and foods. An obvious third advantage of white fillings is

Crowns: Keeping Damaged Teeth Covered

What are Dental Crowns? When a tooth is badly weakened by decay or other damage, a crown may be needed. A crown acts like a cap or cover to protect a tooth from further damage and breakage. Crowns may be tooth-colored, or made of gold, as shown here. Tooth-colored crowns look very natural, but they can crack or break like a natural tooth. Dr. Venincasa can determine the relative risk of having one of these tooth-colored crowns. For the very back teeth, Dr. Venincasa recommends gold crowns. While they are not natural-looking, these crowns are very strong and do not crack or

Another Effort to Combat This Pandemic: Dr. Venincasa Receives Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine

We have been following this novel coronavirus pandemic since March 2020. Dr. Venincasa has done much research on it and has been taking steps to minimize the effects of this virus on his dental practice and on the community. For instance, on January 15, 2021, Dr. Venincasa was able to obtain his first Pfizer vaccine at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, Texas, since he was an active participant in their volunteer department until the pandemic caused it to be inactive. With the hours of research that he has done, Dr. Venincasa has posted updates on our Facebook community page and on
