The Corporate Model vs. Mine for Delivering Dental Care

We have seen the delivery of medical care change tremendously over the past couple of decades.  The current national health care law is the biggest change yet; however, the delivery of dental care is slower to change but a newer corporate model of dental care delivery is gaining steam. Under the corporate model, the nonclinical aspects of the dental practice are controlled by a corporate entity instead of by a dentist-owner.  In the October 2012 issue of  AGD Impact, a publication of the Academy of General Dentistry, the North Carolina AGD President Jerry W. Caudill, DMD, and the current Vice President of the

Helping Patients to Save Money

We are sincerely interested in saving our patients money.  We do understand the financial difficulties that patients experience.  I have five children myself; I do understand the pressures that patients experience in providing for their families.  My dental practice is subject to downturns in the economy just the same as our patients are subject to the same downturns.  We are sympathetic and we are empathetic. As a result of our sensitivity to our patient’s hard-earned money, as a result of our fundamental principles including doing the right thing and treating others as we would want to be treated, we are

Our Unmistakeable Personal Service

Interest-Free or Extended Payment Plan Options We understand many patients are looking for an affordable way to pay for dental services. They include interest-free as well as extended payment plans. With these plans, patients can obtain the care they need or want for low monthly payments. Many patients have taken advantage of this opportunity. In fact, many other healthcare providers accept the CareCredit credit card

Year End Thoughts

Year-End Thoughts For many this was a difficult year.  In fact the past three years has been difficult for many people.  The economy and multiple crises on the national scene have made things difficult.  However, we have seen many of you endure with such grace.  We have also made numerous opportunities available to our patients to make this past three years easier. Because my practice is based on sound foundational principles such as honesty, respect, kindness, self control, charity, and justice, we allow our patients to assist in their care.  We allow our patients to make informed decisions on their

What We Have Learned

Losing Weight May Result in Healthier Gums Recent research from Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine suggests that the loss of bodily fat cells results in healthier gums.  In the pilot study, a group of obese patients had gastric bypass surgery while a second group of obese patients did not have the surgical procedure.  Thoses who had the surgery responded to non-surgical periodontal therapy better than those who did not have the same gastric surgery.  While we are not advocating this somewhat risky gastric bypass surgery, the pilot study suggests that losing weight may have a favorable effect on gingival health.

Payment Options

Payments by Patients We make payments easier for our patients by accepting cash, personal checks, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. In order to keep our fees reasonable and to keep our focus on our patients and their care, we kindly request that payments be made at the time that services are rendered. However, we understand that some patients have a need for more flexibility. We have allowed for that flexibility. For those who need a way to make payments over time, we do offer CareCredit. CareCredit: Interest-Free and Extended Payment Plans With CareCredit, approved patients can make payments over

Quality: a Lifelong Endeavor of This Dentist For most all my life quality has been a principle and a goal I have strived for.  Ever since I could see over the handle bar of a lawnmower I have cut lawns.  Never in my life did I ask for a lawnmowing job.  You see, even at cutting lawns I realized that a quality job made the yard “pop”.  Neighbors recognized the attention to detail, the cutting of the yard at a suitable height, the edging of the lawn, and the trimming around trees, bushes, and poles.  By the time I was
